MAKE SURE YOUR HOOKAH IS CLEAN.
Rinse the base, stem, and hose(s) with warm water to remove any dust or residue. Otherwise, the flavor of your tobacco could be affected, reducing its quality and achieving an unpleasant taste.
FILL THE BASE WITH WATER.
Fill the base of the hookah with water until it covers the downstem about 1-2 inches. The water level should be sufficient to submerge the downstem but not so high that it enters the hose ports.
ASSEMBLE THE HOOKAH
Connect the mast to the base, securing with the rubber or base connector. Assemble the hoses to their ports, make sure you have connected it correctly or use a rubber band to hold it better.
ADD WATER TO THE BASE
Fill the base of the hookah with water. The water level should be 1 to 1.5 inches above the bottom of the stem. Some people often add ice to the water to get a cooler smoke, but it is up to your taste.
PREPARE THE BOWL
Take the container and loosely fill it with hookah tobacco (shisha). Fluff it with your fingers to ensure good air flow. Do not pack the container too much, doing so could harm your session, and you will not get enough smoke, your session will not last, and the flavor will be altered.
Cover the container with a piece of aluminum foil or use a heat management device (click here to see them). If you use aluminum foil, make sure it is tight and secure, with a few small holes poked with a hookah poker or toothpick. This allows air to flow and prevents burning charcoal from directly touching the shisha.
HEAT THE CHARCOAL
Light the hookah charcoal using a coal burner or a gas stove. It will take several minutes for the charcoal to become red hot. Wait until the entire surface of the charcoal is glowing red and there’s no black left.
Carefully place the hot charcoal on top of the foil or heat management device. Make sure the charcoal is evenly distributed to heat the shisha evenly.
WAIT A MOMENT!
Allow the hookah to sit for a few minutes to heat up and produce smoke. Take slow, steady pulls from the hose, inhaling the flavored smoke. If the smoke becomes harsh or the flavor diminishes, you can adjust the heat by adding or removing charcoal.
ENJOY IT!
